Beautiful Ghosts

(Drama/Romance, 98 pages, prestige film, award contender and likely festival darling) Montreal, today.

A stunningly beautiful woman, BELADI, retreats into an old chateau private members club where she finds herself. Therein she explores a sensually controlling relationship over a subservient man DAMON, (Adam Driver type) yet she is acutely aware she is escaping the mistrusts of her sexually abusive childhood, allowing for what small intimacies she is able to cautiously bring forth.

Beladi's distance from her abuse as a girl manifests her into three parts of different ages that interact at times: the small adorable, and bright girl she was before the abuse (age 7), the young terrified ghost-like girl that went through the abuse (age 12), and the coiffed self composed adult that dismisses her past (age 27).

A free spirited street busker, RIVER, enters her day life with the natural ability to break past her barriers, encouraging Beladi to move on and explore her sensual vulnerability, firstly through friendship. Yet even with River, Beladi’s internal battles sabotage their romance.

Beladi takes action, fighting through a lifetime of misplaced self loathing and pain to realize the ghost-like child part of herself she always rejected and hated, had in fact always been her life's hero that survived her through abuse by her father STEPHEN (James McAvoy type). When Beladi accepts and loves her child self, she is complete, and is now able to experience intimacy as for the first time with a man.
